  3. I've read many pppinons pro and contra of both o packages, quite
  4. interesting sometimes. I personally wouldn't say which is better,
  5. frankly I don't like both of them. I'd like to attract your 
  6. appinion to following point:

  8. Not big secrete that in Russia and in East Europe contries level of
  9. software piracy is very high. I may say that 90% of software is
  10. illegal. As well 3D artists, designers in those countries aren't so
  11. reach to buy too expencive hardware. But now I'm talking not about 
  12. piracy itself but about matter of fact that here we have pure 
  13. noncommercial competition of software packages, because those 
  14. people are making their choice on basis of quality, functionality 
  15. and performance of software but not on basis of advertisment and
  16. budget (at least in software part). So, being curious I've checked 
  17. out which 3D package is preferable by russian 3D-makers. Guess what? 
  18.  
  19. It is 3D Studio, but not Lightwave, or TrueSpace (which is just crap
  20. by their oppinion) or whatever. Some guys told mne that they tested 
  21. up to ten different packages and sticked to 3DS. I think it is quite 
  22. independent oppinion, because they still having all of them but using 
  23. 3DS only and in rare cases something exotic like VistaPro to generate 
  24. landscapes, or povrender to produce really good raytraced images. I 
  25. know company which has few SGI stations with Alias, but even they 
  26. prefere 3DS sometimes.
